Purpose of Project:

The purpose of this project was to update and build upon previous research undertaken in the English penal system and to develop the knowledge base obtained from the recent SPS review of prisoners who require assistance with activities of daily living, Specifically, the aim of the study was to explore the options available to the SPS in respect of the future management of high care need prisoners within the general prisoner population, which is projected to increase to 9,500 by 2020-2021, to ensure that SPS meets its general duty of care.
